The Framework
Every issue teaches through one of five practices that show up again and again in the AAC research, under different names, across the ImPAACT framework, POWR, and the wider core-vocabulary literature. This page is where they live together.
Responsivity Respond to any communication attempt, in any form, every time. Modeling Show the words. Aided language input, every day, not just when it’s a lesson. Wait Time Pause before jumping in. Give real processing time before offering help. Presuming Competence Assume understanding, always, regardless of what output looks like. Creating Opportunities Build moments throughout the day that call for communication.
